The Bishop of Iceland, rev. Agnes Sigurðardóttir gives the sermon. Reverends Jón Dalbú Hróbjartsson, Birgir Ásgeirson and Sigurður Árni Þórðarson conduct the service. The Hallgrímskirkja Motet Choir and Schola Cantorum lead the singing. Schola Cantorum along with a string ensemble perform Johann Sebastian Bach‘s chorale cantata „Now come, Savior of the Heathens“ BWV 61. At the end of the service, rev. Sigurður Árni Þórðarson will be inducted to the post of Hallgrímskirkja parish priest. The Festive Mass marks the beginning of the Christmas fundraiser effort by the Church‘s Relief Organisation.
