German Christmas Jazz tonight and the third Schola Cantorum Advent concert tomorrow

The German jazz musicians Markus Burger (piano) and Jan von Klewitz (saxophone) of “Spiritual Standards” give a Christmas concert at the Hallgrimskirkja Christmas Music Festival 2015 tonight, December 17th. At the concert, sponsored by the German Embassy in Iceland, they will perform jazzy arrangements of German Christmas hymns, including ones by Georg Friedrich Händel and Martin Luther.

Burger and Klewitz performed at the Christmas Music Festival in 2013 and were excellently received. Admittance is free and the concert starts at 8 pm.

Tomorrow at noon, December 18th, Hallgrimskirkja’s chamber choir Schola Cantorum will give it’s third and last Advent concert this year. In this 30-minute long concert starting at 12 noon, they will perform beautiful Christmas hymns. Their first and second concerts have been very popular and proven to be both a pleasand and potent antidote to Christmas stress.

Admittance fee is 2.500 ISK and tickets are sold at the entrance. Please try to be a bit early, as it tends to be quite crowded at the ticket table just before the concert starts.
