Exciting and innovative concerts ahead

The next two weekends we have very exciting concerts in Hallgrimskirkja, concerts where innovation plays a great role. This coming weekend, Saturday January 23rd at 2 pm, there is a concert in a series starting last year, where The Icelandic Academy of the Arts and The Hallgrimskirkja Friends of the Arts Society collaborate. Students at the instrument and voice departments at the Academy perform various music, among them new works by students at the composition department.

The goal of this cooperation is allowing students to discover the magical Klais-organ and the acoustics of the church and at the same time giving art lovers an opportunity to discover talented and upcoming musicians. Admittance is free.

The weekend after, Sunday January 31st at 5 pm, we have a concert called Beyond Human Control. A group of contemporary, Icelandic composers makes use of the newly installed midi equipment of the Klais-organ to create works physically impossible for the human performer.
