25TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE KLAIS ORGAN
The popular Summer Concert Series in Hallgrimskirkja will be held for the 25th consecutive summer. The series continues to attract outstanding organists from several countries! There will be three concerts every week: Sundays at 5 pm (60 min.), and Thursdays and Saturdays at 12 pm (30 min.).
This year’s International Organ summer’s program includes first class concert organists from France, Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, Iceland and more, featuring artists such as Olivier Latry, Notre Dame Paris and Shin- Young Lee, Kórea; Willibald Guggenmos, St. Gallen Cathedral; Sophie- Veronique Chaplan, St. Sulpice Paris; Arno Hartmann Bochum, David Cassan, recipient of the 1st prize at the International Organ Competition in Chartre, France 2016, Bine Bryndorf, one of Denmark’s most sought after concert organist, and Björn Steinar Sólbergsson.
Schola Cantorum’s Lunchtime Concerts every Wednesday at 12 pm. The choir will offer a diverse program with a selection of highlights from its most popular pieces through the years. The choir will be offering coffee after the concert, continuing a tradition brought on only last year
The Thursday lunchtime concerts are called Organ + as there is always a second instrument, or singer, playing with the magnificent Klais Organ. Icelandic organists will be featured at these concerts.
The special programme for the Summer Concerts will be published in the spring of 2017.
