SCHUBERT’S SONG CYCLES  

Baritone Oddur A. Jónsson and pianist Somi Kim perform Schubert’s song cycles. The program consists of Heine’s Schwanengesang poems, Gesänge des Harfners from Wilhelm Meister by Goethe and a selection of Schubert’s song cycles. A unique and intimate experience with excellent artists. The Bösendorfer grand piano, a memorial gift to the church, will be used for the performance.  

Limited seating.  

Admittance: 4.500 ISK.  

Oddur A. Jónsson has received several prizes in international lieder competitions. He received the prize for the best Lied and Oratorio Performer and the Schubert Prize in the Francesc Viñas Competition in Barcelona. He won first prize in the International Brahms Competition in Pörtschach, Austria, and the third prize in the International Schubert Lied-Duo Competition in Dortmund, Germany. As a recitalist Oddur has performed Schwanengesang at the Schubert Festival in Vilabertran in Spain and Das Lied von der Erde by Gustav Mahler at the Garnier Opera in Paris.  

Somi Kim was born in South Korea, but grew up in New Zealand. She’s lived and worked in London since her graduation from the Royal Academy of Music. She’s a recipient of many prizes, f.ex. The Gerald Moore Award for Accompanists, AESS Patricia Routledge National English Song Accompanist Prize, Bromgrove International Musicians Competition Accompanist Prize, Vivian Langrish Memorial Trust Prize and Thomas Art of Song Accompanist Prize. Somi Kim has performed at Het Concertgebouw, Slovak Philharmonic, Wigmore Hall, St. John’s Smith Square, Cadaogan Hall, Bridgewater Hall and the Oxford Lieder Festival.
