FIVE HUNDRED NAILS

21/05/17

Sunday May 21st at 12.15 pm.

“FIVE HUNDRED NAILS.”

Opening of an art exhibition in the church’s vestibule after service.

Grétar Reynisson, who is known both for his work as an artist and set designer, exhibits new work inspired by the 500 anniversary of the Lutheran Reformation.

The artist on the exhibition:

“This is a continuation of previous works of recent years, affiliated with collection, counting and registration. I’ve been working on a project since January 1st 1997, which is a kind of a growth project, or “work in progress,” whose main theme is the existential recording of time. The piece Five Hundred Nails, made for Hallgrimskirkja, on one hand consists of a timeline as we tend to measure time in days, weeks, months and years, and on the other, it’s made up of an existential understanding of time and a visualisation of that experience.”

The exhibition is open until August 20th. Curator: Rósa Gísladóttir.

Free admittance.
