Eyþór Franzson Wechner organisti

Eyþór Franzson Wechner was born in Akranes, a fishing town just north of Reykjavík. He began his piano studies at the age of 7 but switched to the organ at the age of 14. His first teacher was Úlrik Ólason and later he studied with Björn Steinar Sólbergsson. After two years at the Iceland Academy of the Arts he moved to Leipzig to study at the “Hochschule für Musik und Theater Leipzig” and finished with a Bachelor’s degree in 2012 and a Master’s degree in 2014 under the guidance of Professor Stefan Engels.

During his studies, Eythor has had the chance to attend masterclasses from many of the worlds most accomplished organists. Eythor works as an organist in Blönduós, in the north of Iceland, and has performed in his home country as well as in Germany and in Australia. The entrance fee is 2.500 ISK and you can buy tickets at the door and at midi.is.
