Sólveig Anna Aradóttir studied piano under the guidance of Nína Margrét Grímsdóttir. Sólveig sang in a children’s choir in Kársnesskóli under the guidance of Þórunn Björnsdóttir and later in Hamrahlíðarkórinn under the guidance of Þorgerður Ingólfsdóttir, currently she sings with Sönghópurinn við Tjörnina. These choirs have made a number of recordings and toured in Europe, Asia and the USA. Sólveig has also made records and toured with a band called Útidúr as a singer and pianist. Sólveig graduated with a church music exam from National Church’s Music School under the guidance of Guðný Einarsdóttir.
She studied choir conducting with Hörður Áskelsson and Magnús Ragnarsson. Sólveig finished her BA degree in Creative Music Communication from the Iceland Academy of the Arts and completed her Cantor exam this spring under the guidance of Eyþór Ingi Jónsson.
Sólveig worked as an organist at Akureyrarkirkja from autumn 2016 to March 2017 and conducted the Akureyri Women’s Choir during that time. In the autumn of 2017 Sólveig starts her further studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen.
