Kitty Kovács, born in 1980 in Győr in Hungary, graduated from the Music department of the Széchenyi István University in her home town with a diploma in piano and chamber music. After working as an accompanist in Győr she went on to study accompaniment at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. During her student years she won prizes, e.g. first prize in 1997 in Salt Lake City and in 2000 she won third prize in the Chopin competition in Hungary. Kitty Kovács moved to lceland in 2006 and has worked here as a piano teacher and organist, from 2011 in the Westmann Islands as organist at Landakirkja church and teacher at the local music school. Kitty received her concert organist diploma last spring, after having studied the organ for five years at the National Church School of Music under the guidance of Lenka Mátéová.
