Katelyn Emerson may be just 24 but she is one of the word’s most promising organists. Just last month she won first place in the biannual National Young Artists Competition in Organ Performance held by the American Guild of Organists. Katelyn arrives in Iceland this week to get acquainted with the huge Klais organ of Hallgrímskirkja and plays two concerts the coming weekend at the International Organ Summer.
On Saturday her programme consists of pieces written in the memory of the deceased by Mozart, Duruflé and Schumann. On Sunday she plays a varied programme ranging from the baroque era to modern day, pieces by Bach, Buxtehude, Brahms, Messiaen and Escaich and more.
