The highly popular New Years event returns with festive music for two trumpets and organ.

Two exceptional young Icelandic trumpet players visit from New York and Paris to start the New Year festivities with the Klais organ.

Music by Clarke, Francescini, Manfredini, Torelli, Albinoni, Charpentier and J.S. Bach ( Toccata and fuge in d-minor).

Johann Nardeau

Johann Nardeau was born in December 1987 in Reykjavík, into a French-Icelandic family of musicians. He started playing brass instruments at the age of ten and graduated from the Reykjavík College of Music in 2006. That same year Johann moved to France for further studies with Eric Aubier in Conservatoire de Rueil-Malmaison where Johann won a “1er prix” with highest distinction, after only one year. In 2008 Johann was the only trumpet player to enter the Paris Conservatoire (CNSMDP) and in spring 2013 graduated with a master’s degree from the class of Antoine Curé and Laurent Bourdon.

As a soloist with orchestra Johann Nardeau has performed much of the standard trumpet repertoire. He has worked as freelance player in orchestras such as the Orchestre de Paris, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio-France, Orchestre de Chambre de Paris, The Paris Opera, Macao Symphony Orchestra, Limoges Opera, Orchestre Pasdeloup, Orchestre Lamoureux, Orchestre de chambre de Versailles. During the years 2013-2015 Johann was principal trumpet of the Orchestre des Lauréats du Conservatoire in Paris. Johann Nardeau is a laureate of International trumpet competitions in Budapest (2009) and Moscow (2011). He is an active member of the Parisian Brass ensemble Cu2+, Sécession Orchestra and Paris Mozart Orchestra to name a few. Since 2017 Johann teaches trumpet in the Sèvres Conservatory in the vicinity of Paris.

Baldvin Oddsson

Baldvin Oddsson graduated from Manhattan School of Music in December 2016. He won the Iceland Symphony Orchestra Young Musician Award and played as a soloist with the orchestra. Since then he has played with the trumpet section of the ISO on many occassions. Baldvin and his teacher, the trumpet virtuoso Steven Burns, performed memorably at The Festival of Sacred Arts in Hallgrímskirkja in 2013.

Baldvin Oddsson also performed at the International Organ Summer in Hallgrimskirkja 2017 and 2018 with the Klais organ.
