July at 12:00&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Gu\u00f0mundur Sigur\u00f0sson organist in Hafnarfjar\u00f0arkirkja church, Iceland<\/p>\n<p>Performs pieces by Fri\u00f0rik Bjarnason, Sm\u00e1ri \u00d3lason, Johann Pachebel, George Shearing and Hugi Gu\u00f0mundsson.<\/p>\n<p>Ticket sale at the entrance opens one hour before the concert.<\/p>\n<p>Admission 2500 ISK<\/p>\n<p>Gu\u00f0mundur Sigur\u00f0sson has been organist at Hafnarfjar\u00f0arkirkja since 2006.&nbsp;He completed his studies from the School of church music of the national&nbsp;church of Iceland with a degree in church music in 2006, studying organ with Ho\u0308r\u00f0ur A\u0301skelsson, and final organ examination in 1998. He completed his&nbsp;master\u2019s degree with distinction in the spring of 2002 from Westminster Choir College in Princeton where his principal organ teacher was Mark A. Anderson and his choral conducting teachers Andrew Megill and Joseph Flummerfelt. Gu\u00f0mundur has appeared in&nbsp;concerts in Iceland and abroad, both as an organ soloist and as an accompanist with soloists and choirs. He has taught organ for many years, was president of the Society of Icelandic organists 2004-2009 and is now chairman of the church music council of the Icelandic national church.<\/p>\n<p>Gu\u00f0mundur was the principal adviser when the church\u2019s organ was renewed. The outcome of that project was the installation of two stylistically authentic instruments, an organ in German late romantic style&nbsp;by Christian Scheffler in 2008 and an organ in central German baroque style by Kristian Wegscheider in 2009. The singer Magnea To\u0301masdo\u0301ttir together with Gu\u00f0mundur and Sma\u0301ri O\u0301lason published a CD in 2003 \u201e&#8230; allt svo ver\u00f0i til dy\u0301r\u00f0ar \u00fee\u0301r\u201c where Magnea and Gu\u00f0mundur perform Sma\u0301ri\u2019s settings&nbsp;of treasures from the Icelandic folk music tradition. Gu\u00f0mundur founded&nbsp;the St. Barbara chamber choir in 2007 which has published the CD \u201eSyngi\u00f0 Drottni ny\u0301jan so\u0308ng\u201c.<\/p>\n<p>The choir performs regularly at Hafnarfjo\u0308r\u00f0ur church and has held many concerts in Iceland and overseas. In 2009, Gu\u00f0mundur inaugurated a series of midday organ concerts in Hafnarfjar\u00f0arkirkja.
