A lovely interplay of choral and organ music with soprano soloist \u00c1sta Mar\u00fd Stef\u00e1nsd\u00f3ttir, who won first prize in the Vox Domini singing competition in 2018 . Conductor is H\u00f6r\u00f0ur \u00c1skelsson Music Director of Hallgrimskirkja and Bj\u00f6rn Steinar S\u00f3lbergsson organist of Hallgrimskirkja plays the great Klais organ.<\/p>\n
The Hallgr\u00edmskirkja Motet Choir, founded in 1982 by H\u00f6r\u00f0ur \u00c1skelsson, has long been one of the leading choirs in Iceland and counts around 60 members. Its large and diverse repertoire includes a number of oratorios, passions and requiems, as well as a cappella sacred music from various periods. The choir has also premiered many Icelandic compositions and has a special connection to the man the church is named after \u2013 music to 17th-century religious poet Hallgr\u00edmur P\u00e9tursson\u2019s work is often on the choir\u2019s programme. <\/p>\n
