J\u00f3nas \u00de\u00f3rir (1956) first got acquainted with the organ when he studied with Martein H. Fri\u00f0riksson and later with H\u00f6r\u00f0ur \u00c1skelsson and Bj\u00f6rn Steinar S\u00f3lbergsson. He graduated as a cantor from the National Church School of Music and furthered his studies with Karsten Askeland in Bergen, Norway. J\u00f3nas \u00de\u00f3rir is a well sought-after accompanist for soloists and a very frequent arranger of music. He is organist at B\u00fasta\u00f0akirkja in Reykjav\u00edk.<\/p>\n
Thursday 16 August at 12:00:<\/strong> Programme:<\/p>\n Rhapsody is the name of a free composition and one of George Gerswin\u2018s is in fact Rhapsody in Blue. Here you will hear melodies and works by one of my favourite composers of the 20th century. I will improvise on some of his well-known compositions, from Rhapsody in Blue and melodies from the opera Porgy and Bess and perhaps we get a visit from one of Iceland\u2018s best known divas to sing Summertime with me. Among the melodies are The Man I love, Someone to Watch Over Me, I Got Plenty o\u2018 Nuttin\u2018, It ain\u2018t Necessarily So, I Got Rhythm and Summertime. J\u00de<\/p>\n
