VOKAL NORD is a professional chamber choir based in Troms\u00f8, Norway. The choir will give a concert in Hallgrimskirkja together with the Hallgrimskirkja chamber choir SCHOLA CANTORUM Thursday May 3 at 8 pm on its way to Seattle, where the choir will perform at the grand opening of the Nordic heritage museum in Seattle on May 5 & 6 2018.<\/p>\n

Vokal Nord is known and recognised for their characteristic sound based on ethnic music from the north, combined with repertoire from the baroque period. In Vokal Nord\u00b4s concert, you may hear folk music from northern Scandinavia, especially the sami vocal tradition yoik, as well as beautiful classical pieces.<\/p>\n

Schola cantorum<\/p><\/div>\n

The combination of european classical music and folk music from the northernmost parts of Scandinavia is quite unique to this ensemble. Guest conductor is H\u00f6r\u00f0ur \u00c1skelsson Music Director of Hallgrimskirkja, Reykjav\u00edk. On the programme in Hallgrimskirkja are works by Grieg, Jan Sandstr\u00f6m, Bj\u00f6rn Anton Drage and icelandic composers together with Scandinavian folk music arrangements.<\/p>\n
