“Hymns of new times” are 26 hymns by A\u00f0alsteinn \u00c1sberg Sigur\u00f0sson and Sigur\u00f0ur Flosason composed for an a capella choir. The sense of the these hymns discern glory, prayer, joy and sorrow.<\/p>\n

\nTHESES – Opening<\/strong>
\nTesur (Theses) is a participatory performance by Icelandic artists Gu\u00f0r\u00fan Kristj\u00e1nsd\u00f3ttir and \u00d3l\u00f6f Nordal that will be on display from the 28th to the 31st of October. The performance recalls when Luther hammered his 95 theses on the church door in Wittenberg, Germany on 31st of October in 1517, and thus began the reformation in Europe.
\nVisitors are invited to participate!<\/p>\n

Music performed by the Hallgr\u00edmskirkja Motet Choir, Bj\u00f6rn Steinar S\u00f3lbergsson,organ, Oddur A. J\u00f3nsson bass and Inga R\u00f3s Ing\u00f3lfsd\u00f3ttir, violoncello. \nThe Lutheran Cantata “Christ unser Herr zum Jordan kam BWV 7” for three soloists, choir and orchestra will be performed along with some hymn arrangements, opening choir from “Aus tiefer Not ruf ich zu dir” BWV 48 and “Kyrie” from Lutheran Mass in F-Major by J. S. Bach.

\nTWO WOMEN OF THE REFORMATION \u2013 MUSIC THEATER<\/strong>
\nElizabeth and Halld\u00f3ra, Bach and \u201eGrallarinn\u201c.<\/p>\n

This piece was composed to celebrate the 500 year anniversary of the beginning of the reformation. It aims to address the participation and influence of women on the shaping of the reformation.<\/p>\n

Performers: The ensemble Reykjav\u00edkBarokk, actresses Mar\u00eda Ellingsen and Steinunn J\u00f3hannesd\u00f3ttir, Marta Gu\u00f0r\u00fan Halld\u00f3rsd\u00f3ttir soprano, J\u00f3hanna Halld\u00f3rsd\u00f3ttir alto, Bragi Berg\u00fe\u00f3rsson tenor and Benedikt Ing\u00f3lfsson bass. The Hallgr\u00edmskirkja Youth Choir and members from the women\u2018s choir Aurora lead the song.
\nArtistic directors: Dilj\u00e1 Sigursveinsd\u00f3ttir and Gu\u00f0n\u00fd Einarsd\u00f3ttir.<\/p>\n

\nREADING OF 95 THESES<\/strong>
\nThe reformation began 500 years ago when Martin Luther hammered 95 theses on church door. The theses, drastically changed European religion, politics and culture. This is the first time that the theses will be read to completion in a church in Iceland.
\nHallgr\u00edmskirkja’s pastors, dr. Sigur\u00f0ur \u00c1rni \u00de\u00f3r\u00f0arson and Irma Sj\u00f6fn \u00d3skard\u00f3ttir supervise.<\/p>\n

\nAfter the celebration in the church, all participants and guests are invited for refreshments in the church\u2018s southern wing.<\/p>\n
